Walmart has hired 2,341 in NJ in veteran job initiative

Over the last six years, Walmart has hired 2,341 veterans in New Jersey as part of their Veterans Welcome Home Commitment, which guarantees a job offer to any honorably discharged U.S. veteran.
The retailer has hired more than 226,000 veterans nationwide since the initiative launched in 2013. This is in keeping with its pledge to hire 250,000 veterans by 2020.
“Veterans bring their strong value systems and capable leadership to our business,” said retired Brig. Gen. Gary Profit, senior director of military programs for Walmart in a statement. “Our military veteran associates are talented and dedicated, and they make us better. As a veteran myself, I am proud that Walmart offers career programs for veterans and military families: If you serve and sacrifice for your country, you shouldn’t have to fight for a job at home.”
Recently, the company prioritized hiring military spouses as well, and has thus far hired 6,000 military spouses across the country.
"It’s encouraging to see the numbers being reported today," said Glen Spencer, a region general manager in New Jersey, in a statement. "It shows that when we set a goal and focus on achieving it, we can accomplish so much.”
