Wounded veteran serving BBQ meals Sunday in Panama City

June 05-- Jun. 5--PANAMA CITY -- A combat-wounded amputee and former Green Beret will be serving BBQ meals to Hurricane Michael victims and others in need Sunday, a news release stated.
Jarrid "Jay" Collins is serving the meals at the Joe and Jeannette Chapman Field at Tommy Oliver Stadium, 440 E. 13th Street in Panama City, from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. on behalf of Operation BBQ Relief. The organization has "for years has served hot BBQ meals to those displaced by natural disasters," according to the release.
"To introduce OBR's 'The Always Serving Project,' Jay is running, biking and hand-cycling from Los Angeles to Tampa, Fla., stopping along the way to help serve BBQ meals to local organizations and individuals," the release stated. "He'll complete his journey in Tampa, in time to participate in the 2019 Warrior Games -- an adaptive sports competition for wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans."
Collins will also serve military personnel and their families Friday at Tyndall Air Force Base from 6 to 8 p.m.
