Mental health services in high demand during COVID

The Chronicle - 10/9/2021

Oct. 8—MANSFIELD — The COVID-19 pandemic and the multi- tiered impacts it has had on folks has, no doubt, stretched the resources of those charged with helping people cope.

One organization locally, Mansfield- based United Services Inc. (USI), has seen the amount of people seeking its behavioral health services double since the pandemic.

Thursday, U. S. Rep. Joe Courtney, D-2nd District, visited USI to discuss a $3 million federal grant awarded to them by the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services.

On Sept. 27, Courtney announced the federal grant had been awarded to the agency.

USI is a nonprofit, community behavioral health center serving 21 towns in northeast Connecticut.
